The formula is free of parabens, glycerin, and propylene glycol, which are commonly found in conventional water-based lubricants. Parabens and propylene glycol are both known irritants, causing adverse reactions in many women. Glycerin is a sugar alcohol that provides a favorable environment for Candida albicans, the most common fungal organism responsible for vaginal yeast infections.

Swede has lowered the pH value to 4.5, which is the average vaginal pH. The formula is safe for use with condoms and all sex toys.
